MARTA Comes to Cobb County

This sketch originated from a piece pulled from CoolCoolCool’s Chief Creative Officer Mark Kendall’s critically acclaimed one person show, "The Magic Negro and Other Blackness" (originally produced at Dad’s Garage Theatre and The Alliance Theatre). It went viral locally and was highlighted by the local Atlanta NPR station in the article “Comedian Mark Kendall Release Video Sketches Addressing Systemic Racism” It was also an official selection for the American Black Film Festival.

There was a good amount of improv from the amazing actors on set when this piece was filmed, with several bits making it into the final cut. Production Designer Jenny Wentling’s hand drawn Marta Map elevated the absurdity of robbing via Marta.
